  • completeness of outfits/accessories

  • Original Märklin boxes improve display and storage
  • Matched sets make layout building easier and more authentic
  • Collectable HO scale remains one of the most popular markets
  • Strong appeal for both collectors and operators

Decorative Antiques & Grand Interior Pieces Auction – Candelabra, Gilt Bronze, Religious Icons, Mantel Clock & Silver Centrepiece | 31 March – 1 April

March 19, 2026 by Johan MartensLeave a Comment Filed Under: Uncategorised

Our upcoming spring sale showcases a striking group of decorative antiques and statement interior pieces, ideal for collectors, decorators and lovers of classic European craftsmanship. This curated selection brings together dramatic gilt and bronze décor, elegant candelabra and wall appliques, refined silverware, and a powerful set of religious icons and devotional objects—the kind of pieces that instantly elevate a room.

From the warm glow of ornate candlelight to the sculptural presence of an urn or mantel clock, these objects are made to be seen. Whether you’re curating a grand hallway, dressing a mantelpiece, or building a collection of sacred art, this selection offers character, atmosphere and timeless decorative value.

Highlights in this selection (as shown)

  • Statement silver centrepiece bowl with richly modelled decoration and classic scroll handles
  • Gilt bronze / ormolu-style mantel clock with figural composition (perfect focal piece for a fireplace or console)
  • Candelabra and wall appliques (sconces) including floral details and multi-light forms for dramatic wall presence
  • Religious icons and devotional art (panel icons and wall plaques) for collectors of sacred art and historic interiors
  • Gilt wall brackets / corbels with sculpted cherub-style motifs—ideal for mirrors, statues, or small decorative displays
  • Decorative urn / vase with painted or enamelled-style decoration and ornate handles
  • Pairs of decorative plaques/roundels—beautiful for gallery walls and layered interior styling
  • Matching decorative pairs (candlesticks/urns/sconces) — always sought-after for symmetry in interiors

Why collectors and designers love decorative antiques

Decorative antiques offer something modern décor can’t replicate: depth, patina, craftsmanship, and presence. These pieces work beautifully in:

  • Classic and historic interiors (townhouses, country homes, period apartments)
  • Modern interiors seeking contrast (a single antique focal piece transforms a minimalist room)
  • Hospitality styling (boutiques, restaurants, hotels) looking for atmospheric statement décor
  • Collections focused on gilt bronze, ecclesiastical objects, antique lighting, and European decorative arts

Viewing strongly recommended

Because scale, finish, and detail matter—especially for gilt surfaces, silver, and devotional objects—we recommend viewing to appreciate:

  • condition and any restorations
  • size and display impact
  • surface detail, wear, and overall presence
