Leuke loten vind ik ook de Hydrografische Kaarten van de U.S. Navy. Ze stammen grosso modo uit het interbellum en spreken soms echt wel tot de verbeelding, met kustlijnen en riviermondingen van exotische gebieden als Monte Christi Bay, Booby Island of Saint-Helena…

Lotelingenstokken – cannes de conscrits – conscript canes

Een collectie glazen lotelingenstokken. Iemand vroeg me daarstraks wat dat zijn. In het kort: vroeger moest men “zijn troep gaan doen” volgens een lotingsysteem (zie ook Hendrik Conscience). Wie in het leger geloot werd, hing thuis op een goed zichtbare plek (meestal de haard) een lotelingenstok, vaak was die van glas en even vaak was die gevuld met drank. Als de soldaat na zijn legerdienst thuiskwam, dan werd de stok gebroken en eventueel de drank gedronken. Omdat de stokken zo mooi waren (Murano-glas b.v.) werden ze vaak heel gelaten of werd er een heel klein stukje vanaf gebroken. Een volledige stok wil dus niet noodzakelijk zeggen dat de soldaat in kwestie gesneuveld is…

Er zijn ook heel mooie wandelstokken van rond 1900.

Zilver – argent – silver

Er is natuurlijk veel meer dan kristal alleen. Zo bijvoorbeeld een aantal mooie voorwerpen van massief zilver uit de (soms vroege) XIXde eeuw.

Evidemment il y a beaucoup plus que du cristal. Comme par exemple ces beaux objets en argent massif du XIXe siècle.

Of course there’s much more than crystal alone. Like these beautiful massive silver objects from the XIXth century.

Liefhebbers van Swarovski kristal en collectioneurs van blinkende voorwerpen, let op: in de veiling van 11 april veilen we o.m. een grote collectie diertjes van Swarovski, meestal nog in de oorspronkelijke verpakking en in zeer goede staat. Er zijn zeldzame grote stukken bij als pauwen, clowns e.d.

Amoureux des cristaux de Swarovski seront ravis d’assister à la vente aux enchères du 11 avril qui contiendra e.a. une belle et vaste collection d’animaux de Swarovski, généralement dans leurs boîtes d’origine et en très bon état. Y compris de pièces grandes et rares comme des paons, des clowns etc.

Swarovski lovers will have to pay attention to our auction on Wednesday April 11th which includes a beautiful and vast collection of crystal animals by Swarovski, most of them still in the original boxes and in very good state. Some are rare and big pieces such as peacocks, clowns etc.
